Introduction

The Hawker 4000 is the newest, most technologically advanced super-midsize business aircraft. Flying faster and farther than its Hawker predecessors, the Hawker 4000 can cruise at speeds up to Mach .84 and has a maximum range up to 3,260 nm. Its advanced swept-wing design, composite fuselage and cutting edge avionics establish a whole new super-midsize category.

We produce the fuselage and empennage, Honeywell integrates and supplies the avionics and electronic systems, Pratt & Whitney Canada furnishes the total propulsion system, and Fuji Heavy Industries builds the totally integrated wing.

The perfect combination of technology, performance, and comfort, the Hawker 4000 represents the future in business aviation.

Hawker Design Features

Composite Fuselage

The Hawker 4000 features an all-composite fuselage, built of carbon fiber/epoxy honeycomb which provides unprecedented structural strength, efficiency in design, excellent aerodynamic properties and relative immunity to fatigue and corrosion.

The fuselage has a diameter of 84 inches. Coupled with advanced interior materials and components, the resultant interior cabin offers a width of 6 feet 5½ inches and a flat floor stand-up height of 6 feet.

The baggage compartment is both internally and externally accessible and offers 89 cubic feet of storage capacity.

The aft fuselage section contains an equipment bay which is accessible through an under fuselage door. This bay houses key aircraft components and sub-systems. The in-flight capable Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) is mounted in the aft-most section of the fuselage. The APU is accessible through clamshell-like doors, which provide superior maintainability and accessibility.

Design Features (continued)

New Wing Design

The Hawker 4000 incorporates an all-new wing design. The moderate sweep, supercritical, aft-loaded airfoil offers excellent high speed characteristics for superior cruise and range performance. In addition, the outstanding low speed performance results in exceptional field performance and docile, pilot-friendly handling qualities.

New Empennage

The empennage is an all-new design incorporating a T-tail configuration. The horizontal stabilizer is fully trimmable utilizing a dual-wound electric motor for trim redundancy. The large, powered rudder allows for low pedal forces and excellent engine-out handling qualities.

Pratt & Whitney PW308A Turbofan Engines

The Hawker 4000 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW308A high bypass turbofan engines each producing 6,900 lb thrust. The engines are flat rated to ISA+22°C thus assuring exceptional high/hot performance.

Building on the proven technology of the P&WC 300 series of engines, the PW308A features full FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control) which results in exceptional fuel specifics and outstanding operating costs.

The engine is designed to have a 3,000 hour hot section interval and a 6,000 hour TBO. Pratt & Whitney is testing its engines during development so they will debut with mature maintenance intervals, thus saving downtime and operating costs.

Design Features (continued)

Honeywell Primus Epic Avionics

The Integrated Flight Control System and Avionics are provided by Honeywell. The Honeywell Primus Epic system features a five panel display format utilizing 10 x 8 inch LCD displays that provide crisp display quality under all light conditions. In addition to the two Primary Flight Displays and the two Multifunction Displays, the Epic system features an EICAS display (Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System) with Synoptics.

The Honeywell Primus Epic system is an avionics suite built on the advanced avionics of the Boeing 777. The avionics system includes an integrated performance computer in the FMS coupled to a full-authority auto-throttle system.

Standard Auto-throttle

The Hawker 4000 has an auto throttle system through the flight management system. The auto throttle automatically positions the throttle levers to control the aircrafts thrust throughout the flight regime. The auto throttle is fully integrated with the aircraft’s Automatic Flight Control System.

Standard LASEREF V Micro Inertial Reference System

The duel Honeywell LASEREF V Micro IRS provides attitude, heading and position parameters with unmatched precision which makes the Hawker 4000 completely independent from ground based navigation aids.

Standard APU

An in-flight capable Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) fitted as standard, to provide electrical power and air-conditioning while the aircraft is on the ground (without the need to start the aircraft’s main engines) or for system back-up in the air.

Large Baggage Capacity

An 89 cubic feet / 990 lb. baggage compartment is located behind the full-service lavatory and is accessible both on the ground and during flight. Baggage can be loaded from outside through a large external baggage door. The sill height of the baggage bay opening makes loading easy particularly large loads or cumbersome items like skis or golf clubs.

Low Operating Costs

From the early stages of design, the Integrated Product Teams working on the Hawker 4000 Program have focused on Reliability, Maintainability, Safety and Operating Costs. The use of CATIA (Computer Assisted Three-dimensional Interactive Application) combined with experienced Logistics and Product Support teams ensure optimum component placement resulting in low maintenance and parts costs.

10 Year Airframe Warranty

The Hawker 4000 comes with a full 10 year/10,000 hour airframe warranty. The Pratt & Whitney PW308A engine, nacelle and reverser have a 5 years/3,000 hour warranty with a 5-year warranty for the Honeywell Epic Avionics Suite. Parts not manufactured by the company are warranted for 5 years / 5,000 hours with warranty for 2 years/800 hours for exterior paint and interior items.

Hawker Cabin Comfort

The Hawker 4000 features a functionally designed cabin, which provides passengers an environment conducive to both long-range and short-distance missions. The passenger cabin is divided into three sections; the vestibule area, housing the galley and storage, the cabin section and the aft lavatory section.

The passenger cabin features a flat floor throughout the entire length and extending into the baggage compartment.

A standard eight-place interior configuration is provided with the Hawker 4000 although the ability to customize your interior is available. The standard layout consists of the following:

Eight Fully Articulating Executive Seats

Each seat features full recline and 360° swivel. Positioned together, the seats can be reclined and berthed for comfortable sleeping on long distance flights.

Excellent Cabin Amenities

The Hawker 4000 features excellent cabin amenities including 24 inch wide tables between each Club Four arrangement. Standard cabin features include DVD video player and cabin climate control. A wide variety of materials and cabin finishes can be selected.

Fully Equipped Galley

The Hawker 4000 features a full service galley including hot/cold water, coffee maker and microwave oven.

Lavatory Compartment

A fully functioning, externally serviceable lavatory including flushing toilet and complete vanity is included as standard.

Payload vs. Range

The Hawker 4000 design weights allow a maximum payload capability of 2,300 lb., which can be carried 2,855 nm.

With a typical payload of 6 passengers and baggage (1,200 lb.) the Hawker 4000 can fly 2,970 nm at Mach 0.82 and with a slightly reduced speed to Mach 0.78 can achieve a maximum range of over 3,150 nm.

Time to Climb

At 39,500 lb. the Hawker 4000 can climb directly to FL410 in just 19 minutes.

Cruising Speeds

The Hawker 4000 typically cruises at speeds up to M0.84 (the MMo is M0.84). High Speed Cruise is M0.82, Intermediate ( Normal ) Speed Cruise is M0.80.  A Long Range Cruise speed of M0.78 provides optimum range / time combination.
