Temel
jet eğitimi vermek amacıyla toplam 50 adet T-37C MAP dahilinde
ABD’den alınmıştır. İlk beş uçak 1963’de gelmiş, bakiye
ise değişik partiler halinde 1967 sonuna kadar teslim edilmiştir.
İlk gelenler “Jet Eğitim Filosu”na tahsis edilmiştir. Daha
sonraları İzmir-Çiğli’deki 122.Filo’da görevlendirilen bu uçaklar
1969-1970 arası geçici olarak Konya’daki 3.AJÜ’nde bulunan 131.
ve 132.Filo’lara nakledilmiştir. Bu uçaklara ek olarak, THKv’nin
temel jet eğitim filosunu takviye etmek için 1978 yılında 20 adet
T-37B USAF’tan, 1992’de de 5 adet Ürdün Hava Kuvvetleri’nden
TuAF’a teslim edilmiştir. Bu uçakların tamamı da 122.Filo’ya
tahsis edilmiştir.

A
total of 50 T-37Cs were received within the MAP program to serve as basic
jet trainers. The first five arrived within 1963 and the remainder
were received in batches of various sizes until the end of 1967
amounting to 50. The first arrivals were deployed at the “Jet Eğitim
Filosu” (Jet training Squadron). They were deployed at the 122nd
Squadron based at the 2nd JAB in Çiğli-Izmir. But in 1969
they were temporarily transferred to 3rd JAB at Konya to serve
at the 313st and 132nd Squadrons. The planes were returned to the
122nd in 1970. As a supplement to TuAFs basic jet training facilities
a further 20 ex-USAF T-38Bs were transferred to Turkey in 1978 and
five from Jordanian Air Force in 1992. They were also assigned to the
122nd Squadron.
